wet paint

Wet paint is done by dipping or by spraying, and in the following we describe the process of both systems.

Contact us for more info on which type of system will benefit your wet paint process.

DIP PAINTING

The dip painting processes can be accomplished as:

  • Dipping in paint by crane and followed by dryer
  • Dipping in paint by overhead conveyor continuing to the dryer and further process

In both systems, the correct design of the tank with stirring, cooling, heating, and choice of pump is directly related to the final results. Contact us for more details.

Application and use

For dipping all types of products and items in water and solvent-based paint.

The typical applications are:

  • Application of primer on complicated products
  • Special paints
  • E-coat

Function

A circulation pump keeps the paint in motion. It brings the paint from the bottom of the tank and back to the surface. An overflow ensures a constant level and is led to a reservoir vessel to which the new paint is added.

Handling

The products or items can be dipped automatically by means of descent in the conveyor line or by means of a raising/lowering device.

Construction

The paint tank consists of a stable welded construction with a shape adapted to the products and the conveyor guiding. The tank is stiffened with steel construction.

The outlet is provided with a filter for the protection of the pump. The pump is chosen individually according to the paint type used.

Heating/cooling

If the paint needs a constant temperature for the application, the paint tank can be provided with temperature control. The regulation is either done through a heat exchanger or by means of a double-wall tank with water circulation.

SPRAY PAINTING

For spraying all types of products and items using water and/or solvents-based paint.

The typical applications are:

  • Manual application of primer and top coating
  • Automatic spraying in closed booths

The function of DC-booth – the water-based filter

The spray booth operates without the use of pumps, nozzles, and mechanical filters. A powerful fan ensures effective exhaustion and also lifts up water to the top of the back wall in the booth.

The exhaust air is cleaned through the scrubber system behind the back wall. The separation grade in this booth type is very high. Depending on the type of paint, chemicals can be added to the water in order to have the paint coagulate and float or sink.

The fan can either be placed directly on top of the booth or mounted externally.

The function of filter booth – Andrea filter

The spray booth has the paper filter typically placed in front of the operator, with the product between the operator and the filter. The filter will stop the majority of paint particles from getting into the exhaust. The filter is easily replaced as it sits in an open frame.

The fan can either be placed directly on top of the booth or mounted externally.

The function of filter booth – box filter

The spray booth has a wall of filters built from separate boxes. Each filter unit (500 x 500 mm) is placed in its own frame. This system is often used when a large amount of paint goes into a concentrated area. The advantage of this system is that each unit takes almost 25 kg of paint and can be replaced individually – no need to change all filters, just the full box.

The fan can either be placed directly on top of the booth or mounted externally.

Handling

The products or items can either be manually placed in the booth or automatically led into the booth by a conveyor line. Also, rotation of the products in front of the booth is possible.

Make-up air systems

The spray booth constructed in a closed version with extension can be equipped with a unit for treatment of the substitution air. This unit keeps the temperature and the air humidity constant, and ensures a high-quality spray result and a better working environment for the operators.
